sounds handy but could be hard to handle so many shops.

Yeah, it could be like a market. You could each have your own section on the floor and you could all stand next to each other with you items lying on the ground infront of you.
I don't now if anyone has played this game called Conquer online? Anyway what happened was everyone has there own space. You could sit down and place your items that you wanted to sell in what looked like trade window. Infront of your char you had what looked like a rug. The people looking to purchase items would walk around and they would click on the rugs and it would bring up a trade window (kinda thing) and people could put in either the amount of money that’s you stated or acceptable items that the seller selected before placing the desired item in.
Basically what I'm saying is it would be cool if they could do that. Do you understand what I'm saying? if not someone tell me and I'll try and put it in a better way

Again it's something GW can't do because it was in another game. Plus the idea of having to travel and remember who has what for what price would get frustrating.

Has anyone played Goonzu Online? Not very good in graphic tho' but the "Market" system IMO is one of the best. They got one NPC in each town representing a Market agent. You click on him, popped up buy and sell menu. In the menu there's a list of items you can sell and all the necessary menus to sell your items such as price per item, quantity of the item you want to sell etc. Click on Buy tab, you have lists of items sorted out by categories like Armor, Weapons etc. Lets say you want to buy a swords, click on the Buy tab --> Weapons ---> Swords, you got list of swords on sale by the players throughout the kingdom. Click on the sword that you want to buy then click on the buy button. Done. Simple n easy. No hassle. For the seller, the money u got from sold items goes straight to your storage/vault and you will be notified promptly via a non intrusive msg on your screen, so you dont have to wait in town to sell your items. It's convenient. The system even display the current market price for the item you want to buy or sell.
If GW developer can devise a system similar to that, it would greatly improve the way we do business in GW.. ^^

Silkroad Online (Nice game if you're not a graphics fanatic, bit laggy, but fun), has this feature, yes town is crowded with little stalls but it's just so much easier to browse stalls....it just is.

Does Anet ever respond to these sorts of threads to say they will take action or does the community just have to keep writing about it until it shows up in an update?
I decided to edit my post to include my twist on some of the ideas I've read. Here goes:
1. Give each player a "sell chest" with a limited number of slots, like maybe a dozen. This would limit the number of items for sale at one time and reduce the chance of people spamming out hundreds of "junk" items or dumb prices.
2. For each item in his or her "sell" chest the player sets his or her price.
3. Items in the "sell" chest would be posted in a central "store" run by an NPC. Maybe a different Xunlai would be good since they already span the whole game. Thus all items for sale would be available at every outpost in the game.
4. Use the GW description in the store, not a player entered description to standardize item descriptions and eliminate scamming.
5. Parse the items descriptions into prefix, body, suffix, etc. and make the store easily searchable across these different attributes.
6. Have the NPC charge a commission. People might still spam to avoid the commission but the commission will act as a gold sink to hepl keep inflation under control.

Incase you all missed it, Factions is supposed to have an auction system, which I'm sure will be implemented into the original as well.

Good idea but I would prefer to put my item(s) in a auction house where players can browse items submitted by various other players, all of which is sorted in categories and while my stuff is in there I can go play some missions, watch a film or go on a trip to Mars. Later on when I come back, if my item(s) sold then I just have to pick up my cash or it's been already credited to my storage box account. Really I don't want to stand on a rug trying to sell stuff and waiting for somebody to click on me when I could be playing. This way you get to sell your stuff while doing whatever and you avoid the people who would make a haggling / player vs player trade window annoying..

ABSOLUTELY NOT!
Private shops would just cause CHAOS in town.
- Having 100 people all squeezing into one tight spot will cause massive lag.
- Having so much people connected to the server will give server massive work load, and make everybody on the server to lag.
- Having so much people logged on and just sit there is a massive waste of energy.

I prefer just having a special NPC Trader that can put your stuff for sale and pays you 90%, while charging 10% as a fee. That way we wont have a lot of people doing shops and stuff.
It will work in a way that you give whatever items you want to put up for sale to the NPC and your asking price. You can retrieve them at any time for no cost. Players can then walk up to the trader and view their wares. Items will have the name of the players who put them up tagged just in case players want to whisper to renegotiate. Players buy the item in question and pay the NPC. The owner can then return at any time to the NPC to see whether his/her item was sold or not. This NPC Menu window will be divided into two tabs: One tab is for the actual player looking at the wares to put up, remove or check the items he/she has left for sale as well as recieve their pay. The other tab would be to browse the NPC's wares put up there by other players.

What about in every outpost, there is a merchant type NPC that you go to.
You talk to that NPC and give it a list of items that you want to sell. The NPC would place your item on a big list that everyone else has put their items on. The list would be categorized for easy trading. Your item would also list your asking price. Kind of like a huge auction, except everything would be put on to one list which would be neatly categorized and every outpost wouldn't be linked to other outposts, that way it wouldn't get out of control.
Or maybe just every major city could have a auctioneer NPC.
Has this idea already been expressed?

I don't think the server even allows too many people at one time in like that. A selling district would be nice, limits what? 30 people who can sell in each district? And another 40 or less can come and buy, without spamming local chat.
If it were to be a major city, 40 sellers per district, and 30 or so ish buyers come buy. Its just the fact that many of us want less spamming, and less people spamming the same thing over selling the same crap over for the last 3 hours.

I like the idea.
In-game auctions would also be a good thing to implement.
